iPods have quickly become some of the most popular and widely used portable media devices by people of all ages, with over 170 million sold worldwide since its introduction in 2001. Their frequent use while people are on the go and potentially less attentive to their surroundings have made them an easy target for would be thieves on campus, in urban areas, on city transportation systems, and in many other public environments.

Master Lock, the innovative industry leader in locks and security products, recognizes the importance of the personal and financial investment iPod users have made in their media players, and has now made protecting these devices more convenient with the introduction of the first-of-its-kind iCage, a family of locking skins for iPod players.

The iCage includes a durable, lightweight protective skin, set-your-own 3-digit combination lock for keyless convenience, flexible cable for lock-down security, and three (3) invisible shrink wraps for screen and body scratch protection. Best of all, the device remains fully functional in the new locking skin with access to all ports for the user.

“So many people have made their iPod an essential part of their lives and that means more, and often easier, opportunities for theft. The iCage maintains the ease of use of these devices while keeping them more secure,” said John Heppner, president and CEO of Fortune Brands Storage and Security, which includes Master Lock. “The iCage locking skin enhances the iPod user experience by making security possible wherever and whenever people are using them.”

The new iCage is available for the 4GB and 8GB iPod nano; and the 30GB, 60GB, 80GB or 160GB iPod classic.  For more information about Master Lock’s new iCage and other security tips to keep you and your belongings safe, please click here!

The new Epson Stylus Photo RX595 printer is amazing! This all-in-one printer helps you add style to every project, whether you scan, copy or print.  The 2.5-inch, color LCD and multipurpose card slots make it easier than ever to view, select, crop and enlarge photos, without using a computer.

Personally, I have used at least 4 or 5 printers in my lifetime and I have never seen one print as fast as the RX595.  My first project was printing some 4 x 6 photos of Brianna from a recent wedding. The photos were ready in as little as 15 seconds and the colors came out rich & vibrant. The quality of the photos were superb!

Another project I tackled was restoring some old faded family photos. My grandmother has an album full of photos that are worn & faded – so I picked out about 8 pictures and the RX595 did an excellent job with the restoration of colors and balance in each picture.  The printer uses Claria™ Hi-Definition ink which means it delivers photos that resist smudges, scratches, water and fading for generations to come - so the newly restored photos won’t be fading anytime soon.

The RX595 has so many great features to choose from – you can create personalized greeting cards for holidays & special occasions, you can print images & text directly onto ink jet printable CDs & DVDs, you can transfer files from your memory card to your computer, you can archive documents & photos with the built-in scan-to-PDF feature, and you can print photos from your digital camera or mobile phone!

I was very pleased with the performance of the RX595 and definitely suggest it for all your printing projects. This all-in-one printer is available online, at Best Buy or at your local electronic stores.

As a parent, the thought of your child with a cell phone can be quite scary. However, kajeet makes your child having a cell phone fun, safe, and real easy to manage! It is actually the first pay-as-you-go cell phone created just for families and offers tons of customizable features.

One of the coolest things about kajeet is the configurator feature. It helps you customize and configure your phone and service to meet the unique needs of you and your family. In the configurator, there is a time manager which lets you determine when the phone can and can’t be used (like during study hours or after bedtime); a contact manager which lets you determine who can call or text the phone; an account activity manager which lets you know how much time is spent on calls, downloads or games; and a wallet manager which lets you manage how much money is on the account.

kajeet also allows you to set up parent and child wallets to give you better control over spending on the account. In addition, it helps you decide who pays for calls and services (great way to teach kids financial responsibility), transfer money from parent’s wallet to child’s wallet (great for allowances or a reward for grades), and to setup automatic transfers for when the account balance is low.

Our family tried the sleek and stylish blue Sanyo Katano (pictured above). The phone featured a digital zoom camera, speakerphone, picture messaging, a large main screen and of course call screening (you can listen to a caller while a message is being left on your phone). It was very easy to use and the preloaded wallpapers and ringtones were hip & colorful. I love that everything can be tracked especially call logs, account balances, and which features were being used. Also, calls to 900 & 976 numbers are automatically blocked.

I definitely recommend kajeet to families with kids. My little fashionista Brianna is only 2, but I used the phone with my 14 year-old niece this past week. She told me that she had a blast using the kajeet phone and playing fun games. She also mentioned that she is waiting on me to refill her wallet, too :)

So, how much does all of these great features cost? The service is competively priced and includes 5 cents per text message, 10 cents per minute of talk, 25 cents per picture message, 35 cents daily access charge (about $10 a month), and unlimited AIM for $6.99 per month. There is no extra charge for domestic long distance, no long-term contracts, no activation costs, no early termination fees and no hidden fees!

You can purchase your child’s kajeet phone service online or at Best Buy, Limited Too and Longs Drugs!

Every mom should own a steamer and what better one to own than the Joy Mangano – My Little Steamer! It is a very sleek, convenient 850-watt steamer that gets your wrinkles out in minutes without the hassle of ironing (and pulling out the ironing board).

The steamer comes with three attachments – lint, soft-bristle and firm-bristle. It has a removable steamer cap, water-level window, comfort-grip handle, and its very own matching drawstring bag. Available colors for the steamer include platinum, linen, sage, wedgewood, yellow, black and lavender.

I used my sage colored Joy Mangano – My Little Steamer on window panels, dust ruffles, clothing items and anything else I found that needed steaming. It was very easy to use and only needs regular tap water (no additives necessary). The final results were superb!
