Rembrandt has introduced its new Plus Peroxide Whitening Mouthwash. It is the first and only whitening mouthwash with fluoride that whitens and restores enamel.

When I tried Rembrandt Plus Peroxide Whitening mouthwash, it was the perfect companion to Rembrandt Intense Stain toothpaste. It is formulated with Bio-Available – which is a rapid-release liquid peroxide begins working immediately on contact to powerfully whiten. The mouthwash is also infused with a premium blend of mints that deliver a long lasting fresh mint flavor. It was gentle on my teeth and gums and the end result was a brighter and whiter smile for me! One thing to note is the recommendation that you do not eat or drink for 30 minutes after using the mouthwash.

I will definitely continue using Rembrandt Plus Peroxide Whitening Mouthwash. It retails for under $8 and available at your local food and drug stores.

Rembrandt recently introduced its new Intense Stain Toothpaste, which has an enhanced formula for powerful whitening and stain removal. It contains fluoride for enamel restoration and powerful stain-fighting ingredients to effectively remove deep stains – such as coffee and red wine.

I have been using the new Rembrandt Intense Stain toothpaste for about a month and I’m very pleased with the results. Within the first few days, my smile was noticeably brighter and whiter. The toothpaste was very gentle on my teeth & gums and had a long lasting minty flavor that I liked. The enhanced foaming ingredients created the perfect rich and creamy lather, too.

I highly recommend this product for coffee/wine drinkers or anyone looking for a powerful whitening toothpaste. Rembrandt Intense Stain retails for under $8 and its available at your local food and drug stores.

The Parenting Experts at Great Parenting 101 often refer to the old saying, “Desperate times call for desperate measures.” Today, this adage too often applies to parents struggling with teens.

Baffled by unruly kids who can’t be reined in, many parents may find themselves seeking help in nearly every corner– doctors, therapists, consultants, clergy, and even celebrity nannies — with the hope of finding a course of action that will fix their problems and take away their family’s pain.

There is hope say parenting and education experts Laura and Malcolm Gauld. They offer some helpful guidelines that, if applied regularly, can guide parents as they raise their children:

1. PARENTS: KNOW THE JOB
Don’t seek to be your child’s friend. This is a tough one, because we all want good relationships with our children. But the goal of parenthood is not to be liked, it is to raise good, decent adults and prepare them well for life. If you do the hard work early on, it will pay off tenfold later in the form of a healthy relationship with your child.

“Parents may be seeking friendship with their children,” says Laura. “If that friendship doesn’t happen, parents may blame themselves and retreat into work. Years go by, nothing changes, and people lament in silence.”

2. TREAT YOUR CHILD LIKE A WORK-IN-PROGRESS – NOT LIKE A PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED
“The fact is many of us think if we could just fix the problem – our child’s acting out, bad behavior –- we could go along in life just fine,” says Laura. “But there is no quick fix.”

“When parents stop focusing solely on their children as ‘the problem’ and start focusing on their own attitudes,” says Malcolm, “members of the family begin to shift and opportunities for family growth present themselves.”

3. DON’T WAIT TO ADDRESS ISSUES WITH YOUR TEEN
“Most parents have difficulty asking for help and wait until things get out of control,” says Laura. “Lowering the bar ever so gradually, they are unaware that they are also lowering their expectations of their children. This waiting and lowering of expectations adds to the problem and interferes with our children’s ability to respond and reach their potential.”

4. MODEL DAILY CHARACTER
To be an example to their children, parents need to model daily character. If we want our children to be honest, authentic people who make positive choices, we need to do the same. Parents need to parent from principles rather than from their emotions — either those tied to their children or their own needs. Through modeling principles daily and showing children how our actions speak louder than our words, parents can show their children how they can reach for their best…

Soles4Souls and Finish Line have joined forces to bring shoes to victims of the recent devastating earthquake in Haiti!

Finish Line will help collect footwear to support Soles4Souls’ commitment to donate more than 1 million pairs of shoes to affected areas. Since January 22, customers at Finish Line have the opportunity to drop off a gently worn pair of shoes. All donations will directly support relief efforts. The retailer will also offer a $5 discount on a new pair of footwear with the donation of a gently worn pair, subject to certain terms and conditions.

Soles4Souls has partnered with other relief organizations to transport and distribute the aid. Thirty containers of supplies, including footwear, clothing, food, water, and medical supplies are already en route to Haiti. “As we struggle to comprehend the magnitude of this disaster, we cannot forget how important basic necessities – such as shoes – will be in the ongoing rescue and rebuilding efforts,” said Wayne Elsey, Founder and CEO of Soles4Souls. “We deeply appreciate the longstanding support of our friends at Finish Line and their customers in helping us provide shoes to survivors and volunteers as they work in horrific conditions.”

The death toll from Haiti’s quake continues to rise, and survivors and rescuers are facing dire health conditions including stifling heat, lack of clean water, broken glass and raw sewage.

“We are proud that our customers have donated more than 200,000 pairs over the past two years to our friends at Soles4Souls,” said Glenn Lyon, Finish Line chief executive officer. “We want to continue that partnership and are happy to be a destination for our customers to contribute to Haitian Relief.”

I don’t own the popular Nintendo Wii just yet (*hint hint*), but I enjoy playing Wii games at my family and friends homes! Recently released is a new ground-breaking fitness game titled Your Shape Featuring Jenny McCarthy.

Leveraging an entirely new, motion-sensing camera peripheral for the Wii system, Your Shape Featuring Jenny McCarthy is the first fitness video game that enables people to experience a comprehensive workout controller-free.

The camera, which is included with the game, provides a completely personalized and interactive workout by scanning players’ bodies, assessing their current fitness level and then projecting their images onto the TV. Once the player completes an initial fitness test, the game is able to completely personalize their workout routine to their fitness level as well as their personal fitness goals and schedule. And, with the innovative new motion-tracking technology, the game is able to follow a player’s movements as they workout, and guide them in real time so that they know whether or not they’re doing the exercises correctly.

Additionally, the in-game workout buddy, Jenny McCarthy herself, will be on hand to provide a fun and motivating exercise experience, while also ensuring that players get the most efficient and effective workout possible. With over four hundred exercises, and Jenny to keep players motivated, working out has never been this interactive, personalized and fun.

Your Shape Featuring Jenny McCarthy has an MSRP of $69.99. Try it out today!

Radio City Rockettes and NYC families help welcome the newest member of the Coca-Cola family, the 90-Calorie Mini can. (David Goldman/AP Images for Coca-Cola North America)

Who’s the new smidge in the fridge? It’s Coca-Cola’s 90-calorie mini can, a new stylish way for consumers to open a little happiness and manage the calories they drink!

Nearly half the size and more than twice the fun of a standard can, the 7.5 ounce mini can is packed with small bursts of the same great flavor and refreshment of Coca-Cola. The new packaging, part of Coca-Cola’s on going commitment to support a healthy lifestyle, contains a portion controlled 90 calories, which can be incorporated in any diet.

“The Coca-Cola mini can is a great option for smaller thirst occasions, and for calorie conscious consumers,” said Hendrick Steckhan, president and general manager, Sparkling Beverages, Coca-Cola North America. “Our new sleek mini can supports the idea of moderation and offers people yet another way to enjoy their favorite Coca-Cola beverage.”

I received samples of the new 90-calorie mini can from The Coca-Cola Company. The new mini tasted great and it complimented my new healthier diet. You get taste, refreshment and hydration all in one can. I’m sure you will definitely enjoy these!

Mini options will include Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta Orange, Cherry Coca-Cola and Barq’s Root Beer, among others. Residents in Washington, D.C. and New York will get the first glimpse of the mini cans. They will be available nationwide in April 2010.

Holidays can make wonderful experiences and memories for dads, kids and stepkids. They can also be stressful, and whip by incredibly fast. Here are a few things to keep in mind for making the most of your Holidays for Dads so please share them with the stylish men in your life:

1. Presence always trumps presents. More than any transient toy or other physical object, your kids crave your time and attention, so let them bask in your presence. If you’re a live-away parent, be with your kids through personal communication and traditions, rather than trying to “make up” for your situation with a flood of presents.

2. Give your child a “Time Machine.” Instead of the latest electronic gadget, give your child time (and be sure to keep the commitments you make). Here are a few examples:

  • Take a simple trip together
  • Keep a commitment to spend one hour of one-on-one time with your child, once a week, all year
  • Make homemade decorations together
  • Build a project together
  • Bake Holiday cookies and regale your kids with stories from your childhood Holidays
  • Learn some new things which make you a better Dad by using resources like TheDadMan.com, Daughters.com and GreatDad.com
  • Pick one day between now and the Holidays to just watch your child non-judgmentally all day. Just be aware of how unique and special she or he is. At the end of the day write down everything you love about her or him and then go share the list with your child as a Holiday gift.

3. Redefine interactive. Nowadays, interactive seems to mean a toy or machine that “interacts” with an isolated individual. Remember: what really builds families is interaction between people and other people! Make room for a feast of personal interactivity this season–like a neighborhood Football Romp to exercise away those extra calories and catch up with the neighbors!

4. Consider “One In, One Out.” To relish the giving nature of the Holidays, some families use this simple and powerful tradition: For every present a family member receives, she or he donates one of their previous possessions to charity. It’s a concrete way to live the Golden Rule-and cuts down on clutter, too!

5. Make your own presents. Regardless of age, almost any child can work with stepdad or dad to make gifts-from homemade crafts to certificates for services to be rendered (e.g.: “Mom, this certificate entitles you to one month of me vacuuming the house”).

6. Wrap recycled. Use “pre-owned” wrapping paper, newspapers, old maps, and other paper products to wrap your presents. It’s a perfect way to personalize a present, while cutting down on waste and saving money.

7. Remember that simple is “in.” A simpler holiday allows us to focus more on the company of loved ones, good food, fun and relaxation-plus, it’s good for the planet. You’re not alone when you simplify and focus first on the true Holiday spirit!

8. Give to others. Help your child decide on a set amount of money she or he will give to charitable causes this year. If she’s too young to earn her own money, give her some to donate. Some kids even give donations as a gifts. Some other ideas from dads:

  • “Adopt” a family through a local nonprofit. We shoot for one practical (shirt, socks etc.), one toiletry (bath soaps, shaving kit, etc) and one pure fun (game, book, stuffed animal) per person. We have a lot of fun shopping for these people that we do not know, but care about.
  • Volunteer at a local charity. I devise a “menu” of places in our city that need help over the holidays, and my daughter picks. We’ve done Meals on Wheels, singing carols to seniors, helping at the animal shelter. Be sure to ask the kids for their ideas too. Often, theirs are the best!

9. Remember ritual. Repetition of meaningful rituals is an important part of building Holiday traditions and instilling positive Holiday memories for a lifetime. Rituals can include attending religious worship services, having special friends and family for a traditional meal, reading a favorite story every year, making a special Holiday morning breakfast, or anything else that draws you closer to each other. Take pictures to help remember-and be sure that YOU are in some of them!

10. Nurture the Holiday spirit all year. The Holidays remind us what special people we have for children, family members, and friends. Try to remember and cherish that special feeling every day. We only get one crack at being our child’s dad while our child is a child. So let’s make the most of it!
