Although we want you to be Stylish Moms, we realize that there is nothing stylish about foot pain. Shoe-related injuries can range from bunions and calluses to more extreme pain in the ball of the foot that can quickly cause permanent nerve damage. And, studies show that women will continue to wear high heels even if they cause them pain and discomfort.
With summer here, Scarpasa (a unique online shoe boutique) believes that looking chic and feeling good doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive. Below are their top six tips for kicking foot pain and still enjoying your summer in style!
– Avoid heels of any height that are too tight and that don’t cater to the natural shape of your individual foot. The shoe should fit your foot, your foot should not fit the shoe. Feet are largest at the end of the day, so when in doubt, try on your shoes at the end of the day.
– Check the fit. While too-tight shoes are less than ideal, so are shoes that are too big. Wearing shoes that are too big causes the foot to slide forward, creating more pressure on your toes.
– Try a thicker heel for improved balance and even weight distribution when walking.
– Consider flats. Flats come in every color of the rainbow with unlimited options for embellishments that make them just as fun to purchase as a pair of heels. Switching to flats when you go out can save your foot a lot of strain in the long run.
– Think walkable. For day-to-day wear, a heel two inches or less can work for many women. When you do opt to go with a higher heel, limit yourself to only wearing them for a few hours.
– Look at the material. Leather stretches more than patent leather and synthetic materials and can be more comfortable to wear.
